Can you work with your ex?

I found this on the website of Ads of the World. The younger me would have objected to the idea of working with my ex. Too many thoughts, fears, apprehensions. Then, there’s his new girlfriend. Of course, every girl ex-girlfriend would compare herself with the new girl. But that’s another story.

But this time, maybe I can be comfortable with my ex. I have respect for the guy. :)

Ah, I’m getting old.

I am Miss Typo.

One of my favorite mistakes is making typos.

I am irritated by this. Annoyed by his. I roll my eyes when I get corrected because I know it’s my fault, my fault, my fault. But.It’s.Just.So.Hard.To.Edit. It takes another person to let me see what my fault was. Gahd, I’m so lazy.

I hate editing my material. I’d rather edit or write. Not both. I hate doing both.

Then, again. This is my job. T_T

From sTALKs to The Stalker.

I’m changing my blog’s name from sTALKs to The Stalker, the main reason being I want it to have a niche. Hahaha! I don’t know if I’m going to be more active in the next days, weeks, months, but I’m definitely trying to make my blog more useful (ermmm).

So, there you go. From now on, it’ll be more ranting and ranting. HAHAHA. 50% kidding. Hope you learn more from The Stalker in the coming days.

Bye for now.

Anchee Min’s Empress Orchid

It’s been a while since I’ve read a whole novel. Most of the time, I’d settle for shorties or short stories because novels take too much time. So unless I can stay awake the whole night or be a certified tambay in the next days, I can never finish a good novel in one sitting.

Anchee Min’s Emopress Orchid left me with these lessons and thoughts:

1. That poverty is a state of mind. I first heard this statement from a valedictorian who was a few years older than me. I cannot recall his school nor his name, but I agreed when he said this. Poverty is nothing but a state of mind. There is always something you can do about it.

2. That the world is one big marketplace. There are things and concepts that can be bought. There are people who can be bought. But there are ideals, philosophies, values and belief that many people would still die for.

3. That even the thinnest bamboo cannot be broken by the harshest wind. It might be the Emperor and his decisions. It might be Su Shun (one of the antagonists) and his goals. It might be Nuharoo’s dignity and grace. It could be Orchid’s resilience.

4. That you only have one chance to jump on the biggest ship. And the most difficult questions are: How do I know that it is the right one and how do I get there?

5. That you, and you alone, get to draw your destiny. There’s no other way it happens.

This book is a good read. Go read (much better if you can fish one out of Booksale) if you have time. :)

Cebu Pacific kills “more fun in the Philippines”.

It’s a wake-up call for three parties: One, to the Civil Aviations Authority of the Philippines. Two, to all Filipino masses. Three, to the owners/management of Cebu Pacific Philippines.

Recent news about the Santiago-Tulfo brawl sent this wake-up call in the atmosphere. I first thought that the whole showbiz brouhaha will overshadow the bottomline: that the Cebu Pac management were careless. Thanks to the perks of the social media, everyone was able to see all the sides of the story.

Now come the articles revealing Cebu Pac’s inefficiency. There’s one from a Malaya newspaper. There are plenty more coming in from the social networking sites. I am not sure whether the same is happening with all the other airline companies. Perhaps. Then again, perhaps not.

What is it with Cebu Pacific? Why are you trying to shorten the internationally-recognized Pinoy patience? What are you trying to prove? That you cannot do anything just because we are passengers? Aren’t you ashamed that you are serving the country this way? If keeping mum about these issues is your way to shake off all the ugly stories, you had better think again.

One part of the industry which suffers most? Tourism, of course. Cebu Pacific just killed “more fun in the Philippines”.

All the DOT’s efforts to surpass the previous years’ number of tourists will be put to waste. All because of flight problems. Now, perhaps those who originally decided on travelling to our country will be discouraged. Even if we put in much effort trying to encourage them to visit our country, they will now think twice before doing so.

Hopefully, this won’t last for long. More tourists means more employment for Filipinos. If Cebu Pacific continues to screw up, let’s just hope this stays within their management and their crappy company policies. There are other airline companies who do not advertise much with regards to flight fares but are very much willing to do what they are for: get us from Point A to Point B.

The Long Wait is Over

The past week landed me on a state of limbo. If I were to be OA about it, I felt so incomplete, so unhappy. My office mates have been teasing me for spacing out. I have been known to immediately give a reaction–however witty, weird or morbid–to anything that is verbally sent out in the atmosphere.

I knew I’m officially lost in that transition from being in a romantic relationship to one that’s become undefined. Undefined because I cannot call us friends or lover or anything.

There were nights I felt so alone. I debated with my inner self if I will let pride or anger or being in love rule over me. But never once did I felt hatred against him. And from his side, he never ceased to be very understanding.

But do you know one thing that made me happy about this ending? We didn’t come to a point where bitterness ruled. Sure, there was pain. We were both hurt, we cried and laughed stupidly at the same time. But I think we cared enough for each other to look on the brighter side always.

He is still there for me. And I, for him. We made each other better. Good times. :)
