Six of the country’s financial experts will reveal the secrets to successful management of inherited assets at the 1st Family & Business Inheritance Conference to be held at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel on October 1, 2011.

Premier Business Inc., a Cebu-based financial and estate planning firm, together with a pool of value-oriented professionals from different fields of expertise doing family business consulting, are organizing the event with the theme “Achieving Family Unity and Prosperity Across Generations: The Business of Being a Family.”

According to Premier Business president Jonathan Ramos, learning the value of preserving a family legacy is the key to successfully grow and sustain a family’s financial and business inheritance.

“If one does not understand the emotional inheritance that goes with the financial inheritance, there
is a 90 percent probability that one will squander the financial inheritance. It does not matter how much or how little the inheritance is. If the next generation is prepared to receive and administer the legacy, it will grow along with relationships in the family,” said Ramos.

“The event will also teach families on how to eliminate chaos that can take place over inheritance issues and preserve unity and prosperity across generations,” said Ramos.

Other prominent speakers include Ed Morrow, chairman and CEO of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants; Atty. Jim Lopez, author of best-selling Philippine law books; Atty. Vic Mamalate, an inheritance tax expert; Prof. Jacob Cabochan, associate consultant at the Ateneo Family Business Development Center; and Maribel Dionisio, a family communication expert.

7 budding Cebu models extol GT

GT Cosmetics Manufacturing has introduced online this month four young and pretty Cebuanas and three male models who consider possessing beautiful skin important not only in modelling but also as young confident professionals.

The seven – Alyssa Neri, Nicole Dionela, Maricris Hetutua, Edzel Peggy, Rhamric Simpron, Mark Calog and Raymund Negapatan – joined a GT Cosmetics photo shoot at Club Ultima last June 2011, said Doris Mongaya, managing director of PRworks Inc.

The photographs of the seven models were officially posted at the Facebook page “GT & Me” at www.facebook.com/gtcosmetics and at PRworks Online at www.prworks.wordpress.com.

This is one way for GT Cosmetics to depict what happens in real life especially with today’s generations who often take skincare for granted. GT Cosmetics is here to remind young people that they are here to help them out with their skin needs through nature’s way, said GT Cosmetics Manufacturing owner Engr. Leonora Salvane.

PRworks Inc. that handles publicity for the Cebu-based GT Cosmetics Manufacturing for four years now arranged the photo shoot in an effort to look for models who found using GT Cosmetics as nature’s way to beautiful skin.

Pretty and Free. Female GT Cosmetics image models (from left) Nicole Dionela, Alyssa Neri, Maricris Hetutua, and Edzel Peggy enjoy themselves at Club Ultima. For the four pretty Cebuanas, possessing great skin is about being beautiful as a woman, not about making one attractive to men.

“GT Carrot soap is better than the soap I used to have. It doesn’t make my skin dry or flaky. I am very happy with my GT Carrot soap,” said Alyssa Neri, currently on her senior year as a Nursing student in UC-Banilad.

Although Neri has been very much active in their school events organized by their department, she never fails to take care of her skin with her GT Carrot soap that she uses to maintain a flawless skin.

A sophomore student of Marketing in USC, Nicole Dionela dreams of having her own business after she graduates. Often mistaken for having a foreign blood, Nicole Dionela is pure Filipina and a true-blue Cebuana.

“I really recommend GT Cosmetics to my family and even classmates. As a model, having my skin well taken care of is essential to me. I don’t have to worry if I get exposed under the sun because before I leave home for school, I have my Gandang Tunay regimen done,” Dionela said.

As a volunteer nurse in a local hospital, Maricris Hetutua loves going to the beach with her family and friends as a way of relieving stress. “When I learned that GT Cosmetics has different products that can help different skin needs, I was very much interested with the GT Sunblock SPF 15. It’s just what I need everytime I go out plus it isn’t difficult to apply on my skin.”

Edzel Peggy, a freshman HRM student at SouthWestern University, uses GT Carrot soap for her young skin to maintain its fresh-looking while it removes dark spots on her face. “As I’m in my teenage years, I often go through having pimples on my face, but GT Carrot soap is effective in removing them leaving no scars.”

But who says skin care is a highly feminine routine only? Grooming too is very essential to men. Males deserve to have their skin taken cared of and can definitely maintain a nightly or daily regimen.

Manly confidence. Male GT Cosmetics image models (from left) Mark Kenneth Iverson Calog, Raymund Gerard Gillamac Negapatan, and Rhamric Penola Simpron pose at the Wang Shang Lo balcony at Club Ultima. Possessing great skin, the three believe, is about feeling good about oneself.

Rhamric Simpron, a dance choreographer and manager of D2K dance crew and an agent in JP Morgan Chase & Co. have said, “GT Cosmetics is really effective. Thanks so much! When I started using it on the first 2 days, I can already see the difference. My skin (face) has tightened. I am using Clarifiance, Bleaching Cream and Carrot soap. My face has reddened a bit like I am mestizo. Haha! It is really amazing because I am getting the skin that I need!”

Mark Calog, a call center agent in Convergys, agrees with Simpron. He too uses the GT Carrot soap and Clarifiance regularly especially that he needs to make his skin healthy even if he works on a graveyard shift. “I really recommend GT products to my work colleagues!”

Raymund Negapatan, a cabin crew at Air Atlanta Icelandic, uses GT Cosmetics to maintain the beauty of his skin, “I love GT Cosmetics coz it’s all natural-based that I don’t need to worry for any side effects. Thank you so much, GT!”

Through the GT Cosmetics online community, “GT & Me”, these image models will be visible to reach out to other GT users online in any part of the world. They will stand as inspiration that truly Gandang Tunay brings out the best in each one of us. Photos of our image models are now ready for viewing on “GT & Me”.

Nestle: Kasambuhay, Habambuhay

Through a friend of a friend of a friend, Jennie discovered (and bugged me endlessly) to download these wonderful videos below.

Just a brief: These are released by Nestle Philippines as part of their 100 years of existence and service here in the country. Each of these commercials tell a short (and value-laden) story about life, the Filipino way–aside from giving emphasis to the importance of nutrition and family.

I am absolutely in love with the funny lines and the wonderful cinematography and scoring. :)

Years of expertise has earned GT Cosmetics not only a continuous flow of loyal customers but also a name equated with quality in the beauty industry.

Since 1992, this local cosmetics company (yes! They’re based here in Cebu!) has consistently tried to improve its products for its loyal and incoming customers. Most popular are their GT Soaps (Papaya, Carrot and Bleaching). They also have toners, night creams and day creams.

Not only that, GT has also began releasing products for men in the market. Beauty, they say, is not limited to one gender after all.

Engr. Leonora Salvane is proud to have built a company that has not only contributed to the growth of the Philippine economy as a whole, but also did its part in the grassroots level. Proof of this is the decrease in the number of unemployed workers in their town, Liloan.

With the help of PR Works Inc, their event partner, GT Cosmetics has gone mainstream. Starting with Cebu, GT has gone nationwide in terms of product distribution.

Si Sandra at si Sophia

ni J. Dennis Teodosio

Lagi tayong pinupukol ng kantiyaw
Dahil hindi natin kinasanayan limahid at galos

Ng luksong-baka at tumbang-preso. Kaya madalas
Pinipili nating magtago sa malaking aparador

Sa kwarto ni Tiya Bebang. Doon walang tumutukso
Gaano man kalutong ang ating mga hagikhikan.

Napagsasaan natin masasayang sandaling walang
Balyahan o bruskong harutan. Minsan kinati

Tayong gayahin hilig na laro nina Ate. Humiram
Tayo ng matitingkad na kulay sa bahaghari

At salit-salitan silang ginamit upang iguhit, buhayin
Sa nakatungangang puting kartolina,

Dalawang manikang papel ng ating pantasya.
Hinayaan nating ikurba ng talim ng gunting

Kanilang alindog, hubog, kabuuan.
Hindi tayo nagkamayaw sa galak nang mamalas

Kakaibang likha ng ating imahinasyon.
Ang isa, pinangalanan mong Sandra, pagkilala

Sa pinipintuho mo sa eskwela. At ang isa,
Binansagan kong Sophia, ang dahilan hindi mo

Nabatid, Tol, dahil inilihim kong kusa.
Sa mga taong mabilis na lumipas,

Higit na naging maigting ating pagkakaibigan.
Hindi natin namalayan, dalawang pirasong papel

Ng ating kamusmusan nagkaroon ng hininga, puso,
Dugo’t laman.

This is one of the poems contained in the book, Ang Ladlad by Danton Remoto and a colleague (whose name escaped my mind). I think it is really sad and unfortunate. When I read this to my friend, she cried. I think that more than everybody else, closet gays are the ones who have the most number of ‘inner battles’, the man vs. himself blah that we usually pick up from our Gender and the Community subjects.

I feel for them in this case, because I believe that there is a gay personality within me (seriously) and most people I know. Sige lang ah, just be happy lang ta, mga kapwa ko bakla. :))

a shot or two

When I was a kid, I used to fantasize about winning some grocery store-related contest and having the privilege of going on a 1-minuter shopping spree.

It has to be 1 minute, not an hour or two. If it will be, it wouldn’t be realistic anymore, no?

So anyway, I’d dream about where will I place my cart (and always it would be where the chocolates are) and where will I rush next if I had enough chocolates (the meat section). You probably would have understood the chocolate section, but what the heck with meat?

I thought that chocolates are too much for comfort: I would have to get something that rhymed with being practical. Hence, meat.

When I shared this with my friends, I learned that they also want to hoard food first. Well, this isn’t exactly what happened when the closest thing to winning a shopping spree landed in my hands in the form of a P1000 gift certificate. Free~

Yes, Jen and I planned on buying chocolates and drinks and some clothes and a few other luxuries, but only when we got home did I realized that it indeed was the closest thing I had next to winning a shopping spree. And…that I did not buy any chocolate.

We bought plates, microwavable containers (but no microwave), forks, bowls, mugs, toiletries, a pitcher, two shot glasses and two The Bars. No questions please. Hahahaha.

Although we paid for a little beyond what the gift certificate entitled, Jen and I were really satisfied with our purchase. We thought that we weren’t really that shopaholic when it comes to luxury. We realized that even though we did not take a bath while on the supermarket, nobody dragged us out. Also, we learned to give up some of the less important—the liquors have to stay of course—so we would not have to pay much.

As I was writing this, I had two shots. Not bad for a long day. Definitely not bad for a cold weather. 

“God wants me back”.

Yesterday, I woke up and felt like there is less excitement in my relationship with YanYan.

So I texted him and told him how I felt. I told him that we need to work on our relationship if we wanted us to be happy as a *cough* couple. His silence on the other end made me think that perhaps he didn’t give a damn. [He later told me that he didn't reply because he knew I don't have any more load. Hehe.] The day went by with no word from him. Then in the middle of the afternoon, he texted: Simba ta?

Siyempre, my heart jumped. Ooh. He’s making an effort.

We went to Sto. Rosario Church. From where I lived, it is a 5-minute walk. But by the time we reached the church, the priest was already giving the Homily. And while inside, I was also contemplating on my failing relationship with God. The lesser time I spent praying. Not finishing my prayers sometimes. Not going to the church for a few weeks now. Not having confession for three years now. Haaay..

I was listening intently to the priest while my other hand was held by him. That time, I felt drained. Fragile and vulnerable. I felt happy that I was able to see him but somehow, I felt bad with my poor relationship with my Creator. As the priest was speaking, tears welled up in my eyes. When he spoke his last words, tears fell.

“God wants you back”.

YanYan was surprised. I, too, was surprised. Perhaps the emptiness I felt with my relationships with God and my boyfriend were a bit similar or parallel in a way. Both needs to be worked on immediately. So when I stepped out of the Church, I felt forgiven and never did the empty feeling dragged me down again. :) I hope to be able to hear mass again this weekend. And hopefully, it will be with him again. :)

Happy Sunday everyone! :)

Russia Day 2011

Yesterday, I spent about twelve hours at work.

It was the Russia Day Celebration. The 35th Year Anniversary of celebrating the Philippine-Russian relations. With the collaboration of Consul Armi Lopez Garcia, Philippine-Russian Business Assembly, Russian Ambassador Nikolay Kudashev and the Province of Cebu and PR Works Cebu, a press conference, photo exhibit and a small cocktail party were held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Despite the downpour and the late advisory, almost of the invite media were in attendance. In fact, the scheduled press con took almost an hour and 15 minutes. The photo exhibit followed suit. The photos were a collage of events attended by Consul Armi Lopez Garcia, HE Nikolay Kudashev and the Phiippine-Russian Business Assembly. At the back of the panels were various photos taken by famous Russian photographers. The exhibit will last for a week.

So, if you have time and money for a plane/boat ticket, visit the lobby of Cebu Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and get lost in thought. Hehehehe. [Darn. I just remembered that I wasn't able to take a picture of my favorite photo there.]

Cafe UNO served as the venue for the mini cocktail party. A simple program was held, messages and toasts here and there, and of course, there was a lot of bright lights, clinking and clicking sounds and “Hahaha!”

I was proud to say that I didn’t get bored. As one of the organizers of that event, boredom is a constant battle that I have to fight off. Thankfully, this one wasn’t. There was a lot of things to prepare for and a lot of people to juggle.

Though most of us went home dead tired from too much physical activity, I wasn’t really exhausted.
I am seeing him. :)

Nokia launches two new phones: C2-00 and X1-01

Last June 14 and 15, I was privileged to be a part of a new innovation in one of the, if not the, biggest mobile giant in the country, Nokia.

It launched two new phones, the Nokia C2-00 and the Nokia X1-01. Each with a lot of new features, Nokia Philippines assures its market that they are not far behind the other companies which have launch similar dual SIM phones. For one, the new Nokia phones can remember the settings of up to 5 SIMs. One need not turn their phones off and switch SIMs. Just slide open, retrieve the SIM you want changed, and put in the new one. Easy and breezy. The phones speak convenience, cost savings, simplicity and style.
